Ten on Tuesday

1. What is your favorite piece of furniture in your house?
This was harder than I thought.  We are now at the point where I like all my furniture (instead of having hand me downs I wasn't crazy about).  But I have a buffet (a Scandinavian maple and frosted glass piece) I got several years ago, I love but it's currently in the playroom holding toys but the more I thought about it I decided that it's not my favorite.  My dining table and chairs are my favorite.  I didn't pick it out it was a hand me down from my Uncle Johnny and his partner Keith.  But it's a huge distressed old farm table (not really ... just meant to look that way it's really from Pottery Barn) but they also gave me 8 chairs to go with it and there are  4 different colors which is so me!!  It's a great table and you can get 8 people around it, plus since it's already distressed I'm not so paranoid about it.

2. If it was raining so hard on a Saturday that you couldn’t leave your house, what would you spend the day doing?
Watching a movie, playing games, and or playing Wii with my kids.

3. What was your favorite candy as a child?
Tootsie Pops or Blow Pops.  It's like getting two candies in one!

4. Did you get an allowance? What was it based on? What did you do with it?
I did. But I only remember getting one as a teenager and it involved cleaning the house and having to take my brother to school.

5. Do you have a favorite Etsy store?
What a good question!!!  I LOVE Etsy!  I happen to sell on Etsy (check it out here if you've never been,  if you have sorry for pimpin again).  But I don't have just one favorite shop other than my own of course.  But I did just get my shipment of wonderful smelling natural and organic body washes from The Everyday Diva Co. and I will definitely be going back!

6. Do you prefer time with family or time with friends?
Both.  I know that's waffling but it's true.  I love to hang out with my family, playing games, playing outside, or just goofing off.  But I also need to have time with my friends.  I need the time out away to hang with girlfriends and talk!

7. Looney Tunes, Tiny Toons, or Animaniacs?
Lonney Tunes! Tiny Toons and Animaniacs were after my time.  God I'm getting old!

8. Best daytime talk show: Oprah, Ellen, The Doctors, Tyra (ha!), Dr. Oz, or Dr. Phil?
Ellen. Love Ellen!!  I even went to a taping a few years ago (and won a trip to London ... but that's a story for another time).
I have a thing against Oprah (check it out here), Dr. Phil makes me cringe, can't stand Tyra, never seen Dr. Oz (Oprah puppet), and The Doctors are OK.

9. Would you rather have the power of invisibility or the ability to fly?
Fly!!!!! Invisibility would get lonely and who wouldn't want to be able to fly anywhere anytime for free???

10. Name 1 thing you love about being an adult.
I can go to bed anytime I want.
I can eat cereal for dinner if I want.
I can see R rated movies.
I don't have to go to school anymore.
I never have to eat a Lima bean again if I don't want to.
I get to choose what we watch on TV.
Alcohol!!!
I don't have to clean my room or make the bed if I don't want to.
Coffee!
I get to pick the vacation spot (for the most part).

Ten on Tuesday

1. If your name was a verb, what would “to Katie” mean?

It would mean to be a good mom.  I am going to Katie my kids! OK that was lame but all I could come up this morning.

2. What myth have you always wanted to prove or bust?

I would love to bust the Loch Ness Monster myth. It's never been answered for sure.  Let's get the Mythbusters on that shall we?!

3. If you had the ability to get a message out to the entire world, what would you say?

Really why do we need nuclear weapons people???  We have a beautiful planet why do you want to destroy it?  You may think it helps to keep you safe but it's a terror tactic and in the wrong hands it could wipe us all out.  And it's always in the wrong hands or too close for comfort for me.

4. I know you’ve answered a similar question before, but it’s been awhile. Please name your current top 10 blogs.

I Can Has Cheezburger (not sure it's a true blog but love it all the same)

5. Do you have a junk drawer?

Oh yes and it's full of unorganized junk!

6. Bottled water or tap?

Both.  At home we drink filtered tap water but I will buy bottled water when I am out.

7. As a kid, did you have a favorite Biblical story?

Never read the bible as kid nor had it read to me so none.

8. What is your favorite black and white movie?

To Kill a Mocking Bird

9. Aside from your engagement/wedding rings, what is your favorite piece of jewelry that you own? Does it have a story behind it?

I have two that I wear everyday.  The first one is a ring my mom gave me when I turned 18 ( she used to give me nice jewelry on big birthdays).  I just love it and I have worn it everyday since the day I got it.  The other one I got last year for my birthday from myself.  It's two charms on a necklace that have kids names stamped on them.

10. What sports/activities do you hope your kids will be involved in? (Answer for both a boy and a girl)

I want both my kids to try dance and sports weather they are boys or girls.  My son has already taken tap class and played soccer, t-ball, and done gymnastics.  He really liked tap class and would have continued if his teacher would have continued on.   My daughter will take dance and play soccer and t-ball when she's old enough.  I also hope one or both my kids get into singing and take chorus classes later down the line.  I loved singing and being in chorus and would love to see my kids do the same.

Jennie's Big Annoucement

Jennie "officially" said good bye today on air. It was not her decision to leave (her contract was not renewed) but she has come to terms with it and is looking forward to some time off.

Ten on Tuesday

1. What was your high school superlative (if you didn’t have one- what would it have been)?

My high school never did these so I would have to say most likely to marry their high school sweet heart or most introverted.

2. What sports did you play in high school?

Long story short, none.  I wanted to play softball but when I went to try out I saw the "new" coach who was my old coach from middle school and left because he favored his daughter way too much and we played the same position.

3.  What was the best part about your wedding (if you’re not married yet, what are you looking forward to)?
The party!!!  It was laid back causal and a blast!!  Great food, open bar, dancing and all the people I dearly loved.  It was so much fun.  There are days I want to go back and have another one because it was so fun!

4. It’s your last meal– what Appetizer, Soup, Salad, Entree and Dessert would you choose?
Oooo good question!  My appetizer would have to be guacamole and tortilla chips, salad would be a good garden salad with tomatoes, onions, cumbers (all the good veggies really) with blue cheese dressing, my entree would be grilled lamb chops with mint jelly and mashed potatoes and steamed asparagus,  and finally my dessert would be homemade yellow butter cake with chocolate icing.  Oh now I'm hungry!

5.  What song is your guilty pleasure?
Oh I hate to admit this but the whole Hooray for Boobies album by The Bloodhound Gang.  In particular I love the Bad Touch song.  But really the entire album makes me sing and laugh and I just know it shouldn't but I just can't help it.   It's also an album I CAN NOT listen to with my kids in the car or the general area.

6.  What is your favorite professional sports team, and why do you like them?
The Denver Broncos!!!!!!  I have always been a fan because that's where I am from and pretty much my whole family roots for them.  And besides NFL football is about the only sport I will watch.

7.  What is your favorite reality show and why do you like it?
Oh my well I can't pick one.  I did a whole blog on the topic awhile back (go here to see it) but I will pick my favorite that I am currently watching and that is Survivor.

8. How would you classify your home decorating style (modern, classic, french country)?
Eclectic with a pinch of modern and classic oh and some early college (meaning whatever was free or given to us).

9. Pizza- deep dish or thin crust? White sauce or red sauce? What toppings?
I don't care I will eat any kind of pizza and I love it all!!!!  OK excluding anchovies.  But my fave pizza to order is sausage, mushrooms and onions or a Hawaiian pizza.

10.  Favorite weekend getaway within a two hour driving radius?
Myrtle Beach.  Outlet shopping, tons of family things to do and lots to see and do plus the beach but I am not sure we have actually ever been the beach there since we can do that here.

My Friend Jennie Stencel Part 3

I have some sad news my friend Jennie who I have blogged about a few other times (you can see them here and here) has been let go from her gig as morning traffic anchor/person on the WXII morning show.

I have seen the show a few times when I happened to be in Greensboro for events and what not and I loved getting up early just to watch the show.  Yes I did it to see Jennie but I gotta say seeing her be funny on a morning news show was awesome!!!  I so wish the up tight morning show here would do something like that (hint hint WECT ...  Jennie is now available!!!!).  Starting the day laughing is awesome and I am not alone she has many fans some of whom turn up on this blog!  Anyway I am not sure what prompted WXII to want to part ways with Jennie but I think they are making a big mistake.  If you feel the same way please head over to a new Facebook Fan page calling for Jennie to be brought back (click here).  So here are some YouTube videos just to prove my point and well they just make me laugh.

Bermuda

So let's play a little catch up.  I left on May 1st for a 5 day cruise on Royal Caribbean to Bermuda.  This trip had been planed for over a year.  It was set up by a lady that my friends and I scrapbook with and it was also a scrap booking cruise (although I didn't end up doing much at all...).  Anyway myself and 2 of my really good friends (Ivy & Michelle) shared a room and some really good times.

Michelle, myself & Ivy just about to board the ship

We boarded the ship on Saturday in Norfolk, VA.  Saturday and Sunday were sea days and the only days I did any scraping besides laying by the pool on deck and drinking.  Monday and Tuesday we were in Bermuda.

 The Enchantment of the Seas

We docked at the Royal Dock Yards which is the very western tip of the island.  There are two major cities in Bermuda, Hamilton and St. George.  We had already lined up a sunset catamaran sail (with unlimited rum swizzles ... see where our minds were) for the evening in Bermuda so we had the whole morning free.  We wanted to get over to St. George (we had a tour of Hamilton on the second day) but after missing the first ferry we just didn't have enough time.  Even though Bermuda is only 26 miles long, traffic is crazy and they don't rent cars so the only ways to get around are by taxi (reeeeaaallllyyy expensive), mopeds (no thank you I wouldn't like to visit the ER in a foreign country), or by ferry.  Since St. George is on the OTHER side of the island from the Royal Dock Yards we just couldn't get over there this trip.  Oh well I make it there another time.  So we just walked around Hamilton and shopped.  Later that day we took our cold but gorgeous and informative sunset catamaran sail.

Michelle, Ivy & I on our Sunset Sail

Day two in Bermuda we took our walking tour of Hamilton and again learned a lot and saw some beautiful places.  After our tour we stopped to have lunch and try the true official drink of Bermuda the Dark & Stormy (LOVE it).

 Weather Vane in Hamilton, Bermuda

Then we had to get back on board to leave Bermuda.  But we still had one more day at sea to lounge by the pool and have Placid our cocktail waiter bring us all the drinks we wanted.  It was a blast!  It was a nice time to spend time with great friends, relax and enjoy a vacation with out kids.

I'm baaaaccccckkkk

I have returned from my cruise to Bermuda.  There were times I didn't think I would make myself get back on that ship and come home it was so beautiful!  Not to mention it was a fun, relaxing, informative and downright awesome!!!!!!!!  I have the best friends and I wasn't not sure what going on vacation without family would be like since I have only done short weekend trips with people other than my family.
So shockingly or not so shockingly I didn't turn on my computer once while I was gone so no new posts for most of the week and I'm sorry about that.  But I promise I will do a whole post on what I did with pictures and all that good stuff at some point this weekend.  But for now my wonderful mother-in-law who stayed the week to help my hubby with the kids is still here and I want to spend some time with her before she leaves tomorrow.

Oh and the new Sookie book came out book 10 Dead in the Family!!!!! I just got mine today and I can't wait to start!   I know that was a random add on to this post but I just had to tell someone!
