Ten on Tuesday

1. What are your thoughts on Valentine’s Day. Do you love it? Hate it?
I like it. I like to get flowers and it's one of the only times I get them.  Oh and I don't care if it's $75 roses in fact I would rather it wasn't.  I'm just happy with a bunch pretty flowers, some conversation hearts and a card.

2. What is your favorite romantic comedy?
As usual I don't have just one.  But at the top of my list is Brigdet Jones' Diary, Say Anything, and French Kiss.

3. Meg Ryan & John Mellencamp: what’s your first reaction?
As long as they are happy it's all good.  I happen to love John  Mellencamp and Meg Ryan so I wish them all the best!

4. All time favorite poem or quote?
Again I am not going to follow directions.  I am going to give you my favorite quote and poem.
My favorite quote is;
"If they give you ruled paper, write the other way." by Juan Ramon Jimenez
It was my senior quote and to this day I still love it and try to adhere to it.  I like to be different and question things.
And my favorite poem is;
Homework! Oh, Homework! by Jack Prelutsky
============

Homework! Oh, homework!
I hate you! You stink!
I wish I could wash you
away in the sink.
If only a bomb
would explode you to bits.
Homework! Oh, homework!
You're giving me fits.

I'd rather take baths
with a man-eating shark,
or wrestle a lion
alone in the dark,
eat spinach and liver,
pet ten porcupines,
than tackle the homework
my teacher assigns.

Homework! Oh, homework!
You're last on my list.
I simply can't see
why you even exist.
If you just disappeared
it would tickle me pink.
Homework! Oh, homework!
I hate you! You stink!

I love Jack Prelutsky!  In fact I like him better than Shel Silverstein (I know start the hate mail now).  But I choose this poem to memorize and recite in front of my class in the 6th grade and to this day I can still recite the first 4 lines or so.

5. What’s the longest amount of time you’ve gone without sleep? (like consecutive hours).
I went about 48 hours once when I flew back to the US from Europe and I didn't sleep on the plane and then had to ride on a bus from Atlanta to SC then I drove myself from SC back home to NC.  I was 16 at the time and was so into talking and having fun that I didn't sleep during the flight or bus ride.  I remeber being so tired and trying to drive home and now I know how dangerous that was and I just chringe.

6. What color ink do you prefer to use?
Black but I am not really picky as long as it's a good pen and writes well.

7. Share with us a blog that you recently found and fell in love with (and link us!)
To be honest I haven't searched out new blogs lately.  I've had a lot going on and I am just barley keeping up with the ones I do read and to be honest I haven't been commenting on them like I used to because I just haven't had the time.

8. If you could be on a reality TV show which one would you choose?
Amazing Race!!!!  I love that show and it makes me want to travel so bad!  Just think of all the fun places I would get to go!  I just need to find a good partner (oh and loose some weight so I could really compete well).  I could not do it with James because we would kill each other!!!

9. Mountains or Beach?
I love the mountains and they are close to my heart because I am from Colorado but I happen to live at the beach now and I love it!

10. With the Oscars around the corner, what’s your pick for best picture?
I've only seen 4 of the nominees but I would have to say Toy Story 3 because it made me laugh and cry.  And I just loved it!

Ten on Tuesday

1. Pretend it’s Monday morning–take us through a day in the life of you.
Well Mondays this semester James my husband gets up about 7:30 and gets our son up and going for school.  They eat and head off.  If my daughter is up then I get her up change her diaper get her clothes on for the day and put her in my bed to watch TV while I take a shower and get ready.  We are typically downstairs eating breakfast by 8:30 or 9.  After breakfast we either run out to do errands or maybe hit an event in my MOMS club.  If we stay home we usually play outside if it's nice or inside if not.  We typically have lunch between 12:30 and 1.  Then I try to clean up whatever needs it.  My daughter either plays by herself or watches Scooby while I work.  We head to the bus stop to pick up my son about 2:30.  We typically get home around 3 and if it's nice I make the kids play outside.  Again if it's not we play inside.  Snack time also happens about the time we get home from the bus.  Once everyone is played out we all sit at the kitchen table and work on homework (the 2 year old colors).  And starting this year we are adding a half hour of reading time on the end of homework.  And we all read for the 30 minutes (not sure how that will work with my lovely headstrong 2 year old...).  Once all the homework and reading is over I start dinner and the kids play (if they start killing each other I put something on the TV).  We eat then head up for bath and bed.  On a good day the kids are clean and in bed by 7!  And I get to relax and do dishes, pick up toys, pack lunches for the next day, etc....

2. What’s your favorite reality TV show?
Of all time The Amazing Race.  But I love so many that's it's a bit sad.  I did a blog post about it awhile back.

3. What motto do you live by?
Well lately I find myself saying It Is What It Is .... a lot.  Things are hard and when something else goes wrong I try not to let get to me .... so my motto lately is, It Is What It Is.

4. If you knew could you try anything and not fail, what dream would you attempt?
I would put more into my craft business on Etsy.  Really I would start going to as many craft fairs as I could but I just can't right now.  It's expensive and they happen on Saturdays for the most part and since I now have a job on the weekends that cuts that out.

5. What was your first job?
I was babysitting by the time I was 13 and my first official job was as a cashier at an A&P grocery store in high school at 14.

6. What is your current job?
Stay at home mom during the week and a photographer/salesman on the weekends.

7. What would you call yourself if you could choose your own name (and you cannot pick the one you already have)?
If I had not already named my daughter Marley I would choose that name.  I happen to love it!

8. What musical instruments can you play?
Sadly none.

9. Is it easier to forgive or forget?
Well I have hard time doing either.  I tend to hold a grudge.  But if I had to choose it's easier to forgive but I never forget.

10. What is one food you’d never want to taste again?
Okra.  I HATE it.  I just don't get it.  It's nasty.

Hi my name is Katie and I am a reality tv addict part 1

I have had an inkling for a few years that I might possibly be a reality tv addict (there are some in my family who would say tv addict period but I come by that naturally ... thanks mom).  But as I was watching the premiere of Dancing with the Starts the other night I had to finally admit it to myself.  I swore I wouldn't watch DWTS.  Well my addiction took over.

Is there a rehab for reality tv addicts???  Anyway as I was admitting my addiction I began to think of all think of the reality tv I currently watch and have watched.  It's quite scary and I am going to share it with you all in hopes that 1. it will shame me into going cold turkey (ummm not likely), 2. you all can feel better about yourselves because you never even saw an episode of Mr. Personality let alone watched the whole damn season, and 3. I have no reality tv showed tivoed to watched so why not!

So let's start with reality shows I have either watched full seasons of or had/have a season pass to on my Tivo.

The Real World - The reality show that started it all, for me and the reality genre.  I still watch The Real World to this day even though I am waaaayyyy out of their target audience age anymore.  But I still love it and have even blogged about it.

Survivor - I have faithfully watched every episode that has ever aired.

The Amazing Race - I LOVE it and it's won a few Emmys so it's not bad.  It makes me want to travel more than I already do and makes me realize my husband and I could NEVER be on the show together because we would be the dysfunctional couple that argues and yells all the time.

Big Brother - Yes I will admit to watching it.  I have watched all but one season (the one with Dr. Will and Mike Boggie).  I just like it.  I will even admit that that I have recorded and watched Big Brother After Dark on Showtime (if you don't know what that is good for you, you have life).

Ghost Hunters - I will say that I think the last 2 seasons haven't been as good and a normal person aka someone who doesn't have a reality tv addiction would have stopped watching if they thought it wasn't as good but no I am still watching.

Dirty Jobs - Two words Mike Rowe.  Ok two more IS HOT.

Kathy Griffin My Life on the D List - She is hysterical!

Tabitha's Salon Take Over - Bitchy stylists and dirty salons ... so much fun!

Flipping Out - Makes me glad my hubby's OCD isn't nearly that bad!

Kitchen Nightmares -Already talked about this one here

Hoarders- And talked about this one here

Real World/Road Rules Challenge (Inferno, Duel, etc....) - My fave real world and road rules guys competing for money and hooking up all over the damn place.  Tv at it's finest!

Rock of Love -  I would NEVER admit that I like Bret Michaels.

Daisy of Love -I know, I know.  I already feel cheap you don't have to rub it in.

The Surreal Life - Does VH1 do anything OTHER than bad celebrity reality shows??

Tough Love - This one is all about watching the train wreck that is Taylor.

The Osbournes - Oldie but a goodie!

Wife Swap -Please don't ask why.

Ok so that isn't even all the reality shows I have watched full seasons of but I'm tired and need to go to bed and none of you wants to read all of that right now anyway.  So this is just part 1.  I still have all the ones I have watched a few times but none the less watched.  Wow so this might be a 5 part blog......
