Facebook Blow Offs Part 2

So I did a whole blog on Facebook and the very convenient but annoying ignore feature (click here to read it). Well I have come to realize that there is a whole other level of Facebook blow offs! Yes that's right! You wanna really piss me off??? Send me a friend request and then a few weeks later unfriend me with out any freaking explanation!! This has happened at least 3 times now (one person who I am not really counting accepted my friend request then unfriended me). But here's the thing why even ask to be my friend in first place if you are just going to kick me off a few weeks later? Now I am sure they didn't plan on unfriending me when they initially asked to be friends on Facebook. But lets be honest here ... how freaking hard is to keep someone a friend??? Umm yeah it's not hard at all. In fact it requires nothing! SO it's more effort to unfriend someone because you have to go their profile and click on the button that says remove from friends. Really are my status updates that grating or do I send to many Yoville requests??? OK I will confess that maybe I got a little out of hand with the Yoville thing ... I am a bit addicted. OK back to topic. Anyway unfriending me just pisses me off. At least give me damn wall post or message saying good bye. Don't be a coward people!

The Real World

I love The Real World. I have watched since the very 1st show with Julie, Eric, Becky, Kevin and all the rest (and yes I can name them all I am just sparing you) in New York.

There was nothing like it on TV at that point. Some have said it was the first reality TV show. So maybe that is where I started my reality TV addition! But I was in high school at the time and could relate to Julie and all the things happening to her and the cast. They for the most part were not that much older than myself. Anyway I was hooked and have been ever since. I have watched every season since with out fail.

The new season premiered this week and my Tivo had it waiting for me. So instead of going to bed at a decent hour last night I stayed up and watched the premiere episode of The Real World: Brooklyn.

This season looks like it will be a really good one. But something has changed for me. I still love the show but I have gone from relating to the cast as a peer, to thinking of them like children!!! Oh the horror!!! I guess I have to admit that this started happening a few seasons ago when they were in Denver.
Davis the "gay" one (the very cute blond guy on the left with the yellow shirt) revealed that his mom was very upset by his "choice" to be gay. He broke down and cried and told all about how awful his mom and family had been about his coming out. I was just in tears watching him. And all I could think was how the hell could any mother treat her child that way???? I would never and could never do that to my children. I would be just as proud and happy to have a gay child as a I would to have a straight one. It would not matter a bit to me as long as my child were happy. And all I wanted to do was to reach out to Davis and tell him what a wonderful human being he is and that I would be his mother if he would have me!! So I went from feeling like I could be on The Real World to feeling like I could be the mother of one of the kids on The Real World. Wow I am getting old.

Happy New Year

2009 is here. Wow 2008 went by in blur. So here are some quick reflections/observations from this year.

I will swear up and down and that the differences in boys and girls are mostly genetic and start from the beginning. The differences between my son and daughter are staggering and it's so "typical" male and female stuff it's just scary. There is something to be said for nature vs. nurture.

I would not survive being a stay at home mom without my friends. Now let me say that I have always had a good girlfriend or two but this is the first time I can say I have a couple that are true friends and that I finally feel that I can turn to no matter what happens in my life.

I have finally figured out that things (especially money issues) have a way of working them selves out and it's really just a waste of time and energy stressing about them and it just annoys my husband to no end!

5 year olds are really just a preparation for the teenage years. I swear my son acts and treats me like he's a teenager already, except that he wants books read to him before bed!!

No matter what you do you are NEVER going to please everyone so just make yourself happy and then at least one person is happy!

I think that no matter how many kids I actually end up having or how old they are or I am I will always want another baby. There is just something about babies that I love and will always want in my life. Now I just have to figure out how to deal with this fact and not be one of those crazy families with 15 kids!!!!

NO matter what toys my son claims to love he will always prefer to play with his baby sister's toys. A doll house wins over a Star Wars toy any day in my house especially if his sister is playing with it first!!

So here's to a new year full ups and downs and everything in between!

Guilty Pleasures

Lets face it being a Mom is great but it's also the hardest damn job I've ever had so I have to find ways to deal with the bad days and as of late my guilty pleasures have been my go to. So we all have them. Guilty pleasures. You know the things you are embarrassed to admit to people even friends that you like or even LOVE. These small things help me get through my not so good days and even make my good days better. Sitting in bed last night with James we stumbled across Jackass which is now playing on another channel in reruns. Which started me thinking about my guilty pleasures. So my list starts with:

  • Blood Hound Gang (totally sexist, raunchy, funny, disgusting music just listen to The Ballad of Chasey Lain on the website)

  • Winter Oreos (seasonal Oreos with extra filling died red ... as if normal Oreos aren't bad enough let's just add LOTS of red dye too!)

  • Twitter (it's like stalking complete strangers ... I just can't explain it)

  • Cars for the Wii (I am totally hooked on driving around Radiator Springs looking for new challenges and buying new paint jobs for all the cars while my son helps me play)

So that's my short list of guilty pleasures right now. So what are some of yours that I should check out??

Confessions of the Day 6

My house is arguably the messiest it's ever been and I just don't care. It's not dirty it's just messy from my daughter's 1st birthday party, out of town guests, and then leaving for a few days for Thanksgiving. In fact there are still party decorations hanging up and the cooler still waiting to be taken back out to the garage and pillows and blankets still in the scrapbooking room waiting to be put away. I could be picking up now while my daughter naps and my son is being entertained by my husband but no I am blogging and am happy to be just sitting here and NOT cleaning.

I forgot to feed my daughter lunch. Yes I deserve Mom of year ... I'm sure this will win me the nomination. She was napping when I fed the little girl I watch and myself. By the time she woke up from her nap it was time to head out to pick up my son from school. When we got back home I was so focused on getting everything (this leads to the next confession just wait) and everyone ready for her 1 year old check up at the doctors that I forgot to give her any lunch. So it suddenly hits me as we are walking into the doctors office that OMG she didn't have lunch! She didn't cry or do anything to let me know she was hungry. I fortunately had milk in a sippy cup and crackers in the diaper bag so she had some food before she went into her appointment.

I forgot about her 1 year old check up until about 11 am this morning when I just happened to check to my calendar. I went searching for her immunization records to take with us because she would be getting more vaccinations. This would be when I forgot to feed her. But of course I could not find the immunizations records and she didn't get lunch.

Facebook blow offs

I have to say my new obsession is Facebook. I started on Myspace and still like Myspace but Facebook has great games and the ability to get back into contact with old friends and people I went to high school with AND the ability to spy on people better than on Myspace. So over all Facebook is my new mega time waster. BUT I have to say the ignore feature is interesting. It's great when you want to ignore all the random requests (but my guilty side usually won't let me) for random applications. It also lets you ignore friend requests from people you don't want to associate with. This was all well and good until it happened to me!!! I don't care if you ignore my random Lil Green Patch requests but my friend request well damn what did I ever do to you??? If I request to be your friend it means that we either are or were friends at one point in our lives (I don't go around adding people just so I can have more friends .. how lame is that?). So as I was going through all my classmates I stumbled upon an old friend from Jr. high school. We spent nights at each other's houses and we even saw a New Kids on the Block concert together. I have to say our bond was through the New Kids. She loved Jordan and I loved Jon. And yes I was a New Kid fan (only in Jr. High thank you very much). We went on to high school and we just didn't hang out anymore. We stayed friendly and we had mutual friends and we never had a true falling out ... we just moved on to different circles. So I was excited to see her on Facebook so we could catch up (like I have done with several old friends on there). Well after a week I was wondering hmmm I still haven't gotten confirmation so I checked out our "mutual" friends and she is friends with lots of our old friends. So I unable to take a hint decided something had gone wrong and sent yet a second friend request. Guess what?? That one was ignored as well. Not only has she ignored me but also a mutual member of my mommy group. Now I have to say that I am not a fan of hers (we don't ever really talk or interact) but I am friends with all the other mommies in the group who are on Facebook. So after seeing her at a MNO (mom's night out) and talking a bit to her I came home and thought what the hell I will be nice and ask to be her friend (really just to spy and so that she didn't think I was rude not to ask). Well again my friend request was ignored (but I was not stupid enough to send a second request this time). But with her at least it confirms my suspicion that we really just don't like each other. She was just the rude one and decided she didn't want to pretend. But really when you are "friends" all the other mommies and not one it's very telling. What the hell!!!! Oh well I guess not EVERYONE loves me. But really they should right?!?!?

Mini Van Mother Drivers

Mini van mother drivers is kinda like a cuss word (OK phrase if you want to get technical) for me. It started when I was in high school. As juniors and seniors we were allowed to drive off campus for lunch. One particular time when my friends and I went to the mall for lunch and were headed back to school a little late as usual if I remember right (my memories of high school are random & I most of the time I have to consult my friend Jennie to make sure I get the details right). Anyway a mini van all of sudden decided that it didn't want to be in the turn lane and came over into my lane, pretty much on top of me. I know she didn't see me. So I honked and she went back over in the lane and then got behind me. Well it was a bit scary b/c she could have hit us and almost did. So my friend Jennie took it upon herself to avenge me. She then proceeded to turn around from the passenger seat and flip this mini van driver off with both hands and made faces too (I think but I'm pretty sure she did). Well mini van mother driver did not take kindly to that and tailed us all the way back to school. Where she proceeded to turn in my licence plate number and get me detention (there is actually a whole lot more to this story and it's pretty damn funny but that's for a different time). She complained about me giving the bird (I tattled & told the vice principal it was Jennie) and that her kids were in the car blah blah blah! So in our retelling of the story she became known as the mini van mother driver or flipper (again another time).
So with contempt I have been hurling this insult at bad driving mini vans for years!!! And I gotta say mothers in general are somewhat bad drivers. And now I am one (damn when did that happen!!) a mother, a mini van owner, and occasional bad driver!!! But I now understand that stupid min van woman from high school but I would never tail a car full of high school kids and then report them for being kids when I had made the mistake (but I am cool so there you go ... but using the term cool just made me so very old & really not cool at all).

So here is my conclusion: kids make you drive badly!!!!!

Yes it is all their fault. They keep us up all night and make us tired and driving tired is just as bad a driving drunk or so they say. They also scream and cry while we are driving... and that is really distracting (almost as bad a texting and driving ha!). Then there is always the "Mommy I'm gonna throw up!" or "feel bad" followed by vomit and then the swerving of the mini van as we try to catch the vomit in our hands. And then there is just the mindless kid chatter or kids music you have listen to (which puts me into a stupor and about half way home realize I have just driven almost home with no conscious thought). So while I now understand the mini van mother driver because I will admit to being one, I have to wonder now if I will ever be a normal driver ever again so that I can then hurl the mini van mother driver insult again?????

confessions of the Day 5

I will only record and watch the Scooby Doo shows from the 60's & 70's for my son because these are the ones I watched as a child and still love them. Not to mention anything with Scrappy is crappy!! And I can't stand the voices on the new animated ones.

I convinced my husband to go into work late so my daughter could nap longer. Now where was I? Picking up my neighbor's girl from school and taking her home. I didn't want to wake my daughter up after only an hour to go with me, so I talked him into staying at home. What I didn't tell him was that it made my life a thousand times easier. That way I didn't have a cranky baby and I also then didn't have to lug a 25 pound baby and a booster seat back to my car, while also holding a 3 year olds hand across the parking lot.

I am just finally getting around to putting photos into frames that I got at my baby shower and for my daughter's birth. That was almost a year ago. Yeah a year. I have had blank frames in her room for a year now. Worse than that there were a few frames already in her room from when it was my son's and they still had pictures of him in them. Yes I am a slacker ... thank you very much!!

Keith Olbermann is AMAZING!!

My uncle sent me the link to this. I have always liked Keith Olbermann but now I think he is AMAZING!! Please take a few minutes to watch this and take to heart what he is saying. He is expressing everything I feel about Prop 8 and gay marriage but so much more eloquently than I ever could (and with out the name calling and yelling I tend to do on this issue).
